Why ELE Closes for Mental Health Week

One of the core values of ELE is to foster a healthy, non-toxic workplace that encourages our team to maintain healthy work-life balances. The question is: how do we achieve that when working in one of the most stressful professions as a small team? 

There’s no silver bullet to answer that question, but one of the ways we address it is by closing ELE for a full week to make space for Mental Health. Annual we plan to close to provide our team a critically important space to unplug, relax, and recharge!

We believe it’s crucial to hold the human aspect in the same high regard as the business aspect – AND we’ve found science supports this! There are numerous studies that show that rest and time off allows for improved long-term health. A World Health Organization study found that working 55 or more hours a week was linked with a 35% higher risk of stroke and a 17% higher risk of dying from heart disease. Another incentive? When considering productivity, it’s been found that taking vacations actually improves professional outcomes across the board.

It’s important to note that ELE’s Mental Health Week does not replace or impact our team's PTO. It’s an added benefit that gives this time back to them to do whatever they choose!

So whether you see us surfing the waves, reading a book under a tree, or indulging in the latest Netflix binge, just know we’ll be back after our Mental Health Weeks rested and ready to roll!
